Relistened to side two yesterday and I'll stand by Death Is a Star being "not so bad." One of Joe's worst vocals, but at least the instrumentation is largely organic. So musically it holds up way better than OBF or Beautiful People.
Also Gary Barnacle is all over this record. I like his contributions.

Sounds like just Mick and Joe and a small guitar. Fun mix!
I actually like the drone in the Rat Patrol version (on the "bad go down again" line). It is mixed a lot louder.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
