ROUND 12 - The Clash - Semi
Re: ROUND 12 - The Clash - Semi
Truly my Sophie's Choice. I had to go with CC because WM is my all time favorite song, but I won't be upset either way. Two brilliant songs.
Got a Rake? Sure!

I chose WMHP for Heston’s reason of the thin production.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Complete Control is a great single for sure. I remember the day I bought it being totally blown away by it's brilliance and thinking wow they won't ever top this. But then they released the ANTHEMIC (White Man) in Hammersmith Palais it's a complete control knock out.

White Man in Hammersmith Palais is my favourite Clash song. I think it underrated, if anything.

Do you think CC and WIHP benefit from being non album singles? Does that extra bit of anonymity give it a bit more edge?
You can add all the tracks on COL EP, Armagedeon Time etc.. to the theory.

There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

No don't think so as Heston states great songs. Maybe that they were not on an album originally (hi America ) perhaps added to their charm for UK fans only.101Walterton wrote: ↑18 Apr 2019, 7:10amThirded.Marky Dread wrote: ↑18 Apr 2019, 6:34amGotta agree.Silent Majority wrote: ↑18 Apr 2019, 5:55amWhite Man in Hammersmith Palais is my favourite Clash song.
