It should have read ''accelerant all we got is Sunday papers". Which I've always assumed was about setting fire to that car at the riot.

Right after the Sunday papers line. I think they cut it from the album version but it’s on the demo.Marky Dread wrote: ↑18 Apr 2019, 5:26pmWhere's that in the song?matedog wrote: ↑18 Apr 2019, 5:14pmHow about the "Hey Pamela! Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Which one there is the Polydor demo, Beaconsfield demo and Beaconsfield promo shoot versions. My favourite one is the promo shoot version.matedog wrote: ↑18 Apr 2019, 5:29pmRight after the Sunday papers line. Yep that's the Mickey Foote demo which is practically the album versions with overdubs of clapping foot stomping and the additional vocal. I'm on it at the moment slowing it down and mixing the vocal as high as I can. Probably going to be indecipherable.Heston wrote: ↑18 Apr 2019, 5:34pmThe Dawg refers to this...Marky Dread wrote: ↑18 Apr 2019, 5:32pmWhich one there is the Polydor demo, Beaconsfield demo and Beaconsfield promo shoot versions. Re: The Clash (LP) - Finalist
The first part of the line after ''Sunday papers'' appears to be ''they sell 'em all out''. I think the second part is "they said go without".
So here's what I think is the whole thing.
They stand in a line all to get the (their) Sunday papers.
They sell 'em all out, they said go without.
