So long as nobody's using alt accts (which would be totally cuntish behaviour) I don't think there's an issue.
Not to mention incredibly sad.

Yep. Only cheating yourself as my teachers used to say.

I've really enjoyed this competition and it would be sad to see it soured in any way

I think this final round is just a bit more exciting so some people who weren't all that interested in voting for Side 5 of Sandinista! are now showing up to cast their vote. I'm fine with that.

The 3 remaining songs are all GREAT songs and Wolt is spot on - any of them could easily be someone's favorite.

Someone will have to enlighten me, how do you vote tactically here?
Voting more than once with different email accounts.

Rudie is great but I'm stunned people think it's better than STH. It's basically just a jaunty ska tune.

If might suggest, fretting about rigged and tactical voting and all that—stuff that is perhaps souring people's experience—is, I think, missing the forest for the trees. The whole point of doing this survivor thing, or at least why I suggested doing it all those weeks ago, was to get people talking and debating and enjoying the Clash. The vote itself is just a silly device or structure. Grumbling about how votes turn out is caring too much about superficialities (and, yes, I can be justifiably accused of the same w/r/t "London Calling" and the baffling elevation of "Something About England"; mea culpa). Enjoy the fact that people went back and listened to the records again, re-discovered appreciation, and made arguments with friends over the songs.

Yeah, I agree with this. The pleasure is in the discussion and in the madness of the whole pursuit. It didn't even cross my mind that someone would create an alt. account. My harrumphing about this song over that is all in fun, as I assume it is for everyone else here, there are all great songs and the discussion has been fab.

I do wonder if part of this is just that by the time we've gotten to the finals, all of these songs have been quite vetted so there's a little less new ground to be broken, conversation wise.

I don't know mate. A friend of mine also called John joined last night with the username KosmoPolitan. So he can download all my remasters and save me sending him the physical disc. He read the poll and said just how easy it would be to have more than one vote.

I agree with the last part that they are all someone's fave. I wonder how this poll represents Clash appreciation in general. With some passing votes from lurkers. Some may have just waited til the final only to vote. Maybe there's another way of voting by getting everyone's vote accounted for before the poll begins. Like if there were 30 voters and you wait for all 30 votes to be entered before moving to the next vote. No spoilt ballot papers please.

I suppose nothing is foolproof but isn't this all just a bit of banter and fun between friends? I couldn't even get angry at Doc when he kept voting off Something About England.

Then I failed there, too. :disshame:

Yeah, ultimately the real joy has been reminding a lot of us that we genuinely love the Clash and have maybe taken that for granted over the years. Ultimately it doesn’t matter which song “wins.”

Some don't need reminding. I agree Mensorth Hill is the greatest thing ever recorded.
