I think they were just trying to convey that the beat had a Latino flavour.matedog wrote: ↑07 May 2019, 1:52pmI'm also not a latin music expert (though I did learn a decent amount back in high school, but haven't done any latin drumming in probably 18 years), but this is what I think of as a bossa nova beat:Wolter wrote: ↑07 May 2019, 1:38pmI mean, it’s obviously not a bossa nova song, but I assumed he was just copping the beat and putting it on STH. What Topper plays on STH is very different and far more complicated. A lot of latin/Brazilian drumming is very syncopated and complicated, not unlike STH, so I assumed he meant something in that vein (mambo is sorta closer).

I get it. It's just weird to reference a very specific genre/beat when that was inaccurate.Marky Dread wrote: ↑07 May 2019, 3:34pmI think they were just trying to convey that the beat had a Latino flavour.matedog wrote: ↑07 May 2019, 1:52pmI'm also not a latin music expert (though I did learn a decent amount back in high school, but haven't done any latin drumming in probably 18 years), but this is what I think of as a bossa nova beat:Wolter wrote: ↑07 May 2019, 1:38pmI mean, it’s obviously not a bossa nova song, but I assumed he was just copping the beat and putting it on STH. Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Also, it's really weird how I've come to think of Terry's version of Topper's STH drum thing as the definitive version when they're actually pretty dissimilar.

Hey, Bud Selig, there can be no ties for the final song standing.

There's something quite wrong if an unambiguously punk number doesn't make the final two. The charge that people here actually hate punk would have enough evidence to go to trial. And I won't testify for the defence!

I’m legit annoyed at this tactical voting nonsense. Every time I’ve voted it’s been for the one I honestly thought deserved to go off next.
Also, it’s almost axiomatic that this board hates punk at this point.

You should feel bad about your terrible opinion.
