Quietly, Straight to Hell - the actual best song the Clash ever recorded - is losing to both Rudie and CC at the moment.
Clash fans hate bossa nova.

(I’m not prepared to say it’s the best song they ever did, but it’s up there, as voting attests)
I thought Topper was pretty well versed in jazz and latin styles, so him calling STH "bossa nova" is baffling.
I mean, it’s obviously not a bossa nova song, but I assumed he was just copping the beat and putting it on STH. Then again, I’m not an expert.
I'm also not a latin music expert (though I did learn a decent amount back in high school, but haven't done any latin drumming in probably 18 years), but this is what I think of as a bossa nova beat:

What Topper plays on STH is very different and far more complicated. A lot of latin/Brazilian drumming is very syncopated and complicated, not unlike STH, so I assumed he meant something in that vein (mambo is sorta closer).
I think they were just trying to convey that the beat had a Latino flavour.

I get it. It's just weird to reference a very specific genre/beat when that was inaccurate.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I pulled the lever for CC, but I feel terrible about it.

I'm voting STH because I am a punk rocker.
Finally, someone makes the morally superior argument.

Also, it's really weird how I've come to think of Terry's version of Topper's STH drum thing as the definitive version when they're actually pretty dissimilar.

If Rudie and Straight to Hell end up tied, this would be final round. :scared:
Hey, Bud Selig, there can be no ties for the final song standing. :naughty:

There's something quite wrong if an unambiguously punk number doesn't make the final two. The charge that people here actually hate punk would have enough evidence to go to trial. And I won't testify for the defence! :naughty:

I kept trying to defend the actual punker songs the band produced but Faux Punks like Maj kept voting 'em out!

I’m legit annoyed at this tactical voting nonsense. Every time I’ve voted it’s been for the one I honestly thought deserved to go off next.

Also, it’s almost axiomatic that this board hates punk at this point.

The fact the WMIHP isn’t going to win makes the poll not credible.

You should feel bad about your terrible opinion.
