Well yeah but both your line and mine are a lyric from "Beat My Guest" by Adam & the Ants.revbob wrote: ↑16 Apr 2020, 8:46pmDid you do that off the top of your head?
Well tie me up and hit me with a stick
Beat me beat me
Yeah, use a truncheon or a household brick
Beat me beat me
There's so much happiness behind these tears
Beat me beat me
I pray you'll beat me
For ten thousand years
Beat me beat me
I'm black and blue baby
I love you
Be your dog
For just one flog
You don't hear me plead
For you to make me bleed
Beat me beat me
Oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh
Well use a truncheon or a cricket bat
Beat me beat me
A good beatings really where its at
Beat me beat me
Forces have been looting
My humanity
Curfews have been curbing
The end of liberty
We're the flowers in the dustbin...
No fuchsias for you.

This stuff makes me wish that someone had locked Steve in some rehab/recording studio situation (with twice daily conjugal visits) in the late seventies to mid-eighties.Heston wrote: ↑16 Apr 2020, 6:58pmThis is some muso shit but the most cool thing about this song is the vocal melody on the chorus. On Bod-ies the vocal hits an F# behind the G chord, turning it into a Gmaj7. But then near the end they hit an E note behind the G instead, turning it into a G6. It's the subtle, clever stuff like this that the likes of the Expoited just totally miss.

LOL. This is funny because while I know the song (I thought quite well), I know from the Epoxies (didn't realize it was a cover).Marky Dread wrote: ↑17 Apr 2020, 4:12amWell yeah but both your line and mine are a lyric from "Beat My Guest" by Adam & the Ants.

Re: Final Side 1 Track 2
Yeah, that's very interesting. Certainly catches the ear. Lesser bands would have just rode a G, B, or D.Heston wrote: ↑16 Apr 2020, 6:58pmThis is some muso shit but the most cool thing about this song is the vocal melody on the chorus. Also, there are some interesting notes in the intro. It says E but he hits some Gs (third fret of the low E) which is the flatted third. It's a classic blue note, but just sounds dissonant here.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Than AA's I presume.Marky Dread wrote: ↑17 Apr 2020, 10:05amThe Dickies version of Beat My Guest is much better.
But seriously Ive only heard AA "hit" songs so Ive dismissed him, perhaps unfairly.

Is it? I have always interpreted it as an anti-choice song.Marky Dread wrote: ↑16 Apr 2020, 3:30pmDon't agree at all. Bodies makes Paranoid seem like a tame pop song by comparison.
Bodies is a genuine tale of a woman who carried her aborted foetus around in a bag. It's also a song about the right of a woman to choose what she does with her body.
The song would be equally as brilliant without the profanity.

That is always the impression I get when I listen and didn't he tackle the subject with PIL too ? I always assumed something was lost in translation with Bodies but at face value it seems anti choice to me.JennyB wrote: ↑17 Apr 2020, 11:18amIs it? And it's why I voted Paranoid! I've always had an aversion to Bodies for that very reason.revbob wrote: ↑17 Apr 2020, 11:25amThat is always the impression I get when I listen and didn't he tackle the subject with PIL too ?
