Ban me too, haven't heard the Bowie one either.
I think you'll like the Ziggy Stardust album.
I'll give it a listen tonight.
I'm not a huge Bowie fan but it is one of my all time favourite albums.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

The thing about Bowie is that you might not get addicted right away. There's a lot of subtlety in his and his collaborator's work which I think is what makes him a god, but it took me a few years before I really got it the way I do now (by which I mean, I would sacrifice my own life that Bowie may live again).

Yeah you are spot on Kory. I liked Ziggy on first hearing but it's an album that just gets better every time I hear it. It's more immediate than some of his other albums which over time I have grown to love and respect.

I have now heard a full Bowie album. Two in fact. Low & Heroes. I started Ziggy at track 3, so haven't heard all that. I was working so I was only half listening, but they sounded alright. From the comments above I need to persist with them, because "sounded alright" would probably have been my description of London Calling after one listen!

Yep the vast majority of Bowie's output benefits from repeated listens.

Aren't those some of the best albums though, the ones that demand you invest your time in.

That said I should probably do that with Bowie. Im not a fan of his vocals generally and I like some stuff but Ive always have found most of his stuff doesn't get me over the hump so to speak. Like it stalls for me about 3/4 up the hill.

Kinda the cool thing about his vocals is that at a certain point he shifted from a more nasal whine for the glam stuff, into a lower register later on, so there's a bit for everybody.

The omens are good, I'm familiar with just 2 tracks and I'm very fond of them. Will get it on in an hour or so.

Yes I agree. Some albums and artists take more work than others. But the rewards can be great.

Hello,

Many of my friends I'd push to Bowie thought he was too weird at first. After a few listens, that went away and, once past that hurdle, many of them were more "getting into it".

Well there's the law of diminishing returns too.

Got it on now, Five Years is very good, love the chord progression. Nice to hear the bass in there too. Just got to the chorus, spot on. Going on a bit now, screaming perhaps too much.

Soul Love comes on like a fast Stand By Me. Yeah this one doesn't do much for me.

Moonage Day, great opening. Liking this so far. Really enjoying it actually, easily the strongest so far. Yep, spot on.

Starman I already knew and love.

It Ain't Easy is ok, chorus easily preferable to the verses. Again, doesn't do much for me.

Perhaps I need to listen to this side a few times as previously suggested, will give side 2 a go tomorrow.
