I don't disagree. I've never been a fan of their brand of humor.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑24 Apr 2020, 11:50amNovelty song? If that's the case, all of Devo's songs are novelty songs.

I think there's a lot more going on with Devo than just a joke band.Kory wrote: ↑24 Apr 2020, 12:12pmI don't disagree. I've never been a fan of their brand of humor.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑24 Apr 2020, 11:50amNovelty song? If that's the case, all of Devo's songs are novelty songs.
I also don't necessarily disagree with that (was being broad before), I just don't see it myself. I've tried to get into them a few times to no avail. I can't get past the gimmicks. I will say Gates of Steel is pretty good live.Flex wrote: ↑24 Apr 2020, 12:13pmI think there's a lot more going on with Devo than just a joke band.Kory wrote: ↑24 Apr 2020, 12:12pmI don't disagree. You are both cloth-eared fools.
Sounds like a toy my kids had when they were young, twist it, bop it, squeeze it!! I like Devo but really, best track 3 off every album?
I know that toy you speak of, it tormented me for years.101Walterton wrote: ↑24 Apr 2020, 6:55pmSounds like a toy my kids had when they were young, twist it, bop it, squeeze it!! I like Devo but really, best track 3 off every album?

I see what you mean to an extent but the groove is just too great, and I have many happy memories of it playing at our local nightclub circa 1985.
Yeah, but it was released in 1980, so it obviously had legs. I was surprised to find it wasn't a major hit in the UK.101Walterton wrote: ↑24 Apr 2020, 7:07pmYou just answered your own question, 1985!!!!!Heston wrote: ↑24 Apr 2020, 7:03pmI know that toy you speak of, it tormented me for years.101Walterton wrote: ↑24 Apr 2020, 6:55pmSounds like a toy my kids had when they were young, twist it, bop it, squeeze it!! To be honest when I saw it nominated I had to go to YouTube but knew it straight away. I was surprised it was Devo.Heston wrote: ↑24 Apr 2020, 7:10pmYeah, but it was released in 1980, so it obviously had legs.
