All good songs but I dont think any are good openers.
Well I think Blondie is the perfect opener with that ringing phone and short acapella intro. I unfortunately never considered that before I voted.
Its what I voted for but I know my own preference is for a strong kick down the door and punch in the face for an opening track.

And track 2 doesn't let up. Breather on 3.
Now everyone agrees with me πŸ™„
I went with Blondie, not because it is one of their better tracks for inclusion, but as Heston said it does make a good album opener.
Hello,

Excuse me, but Bad Reputation kicks down the door and adjoining wall.

I went with Blondie mainly to get them out of the way.
LOL.

I think they have way better songs and there will be some buyers remorse
Not me. It’s my favorite Blondie song. And yes, I know it’s a cover.
Nothing wrong with covers and if its your favorite its your favorite. I much prefer call Me or One Way or Another, or Dreaming, Tide is High, Contact in Red Square...
Those are all good, but only One Way is a contender for a better song for me out of those.

There are better Blondie songs but those better Blondie songs will come up against stronger tracks based on tracklist.

Urrgh, Tide Is High is a bit weak imo. Dreaming is probably my favourite Blondie song..

Agreed, strongly. It's chintzy musical tourism. John Holts version obliterates it.

Voted The Slits last round, but going with Blondie this time. They have a few ones I prefer, but no guarantee they win on something like X Offender so let's secure them a spot here with this (extremely excellent) track.

I’m saving my Slits vote for either Shoplifting or Typical Girls.

About an hour left in the vote. Need six votes for candidates other than Blondie for this to go to a final round. Serious drop-off in total votes from rounds 1 to 2 (33/34 to 20). Otherwise, we'll move on to nominations for Track 1 Song 2 after the poll closes.

Isn't this because we had 2 votes each in round 1?

By gum, you're right. That would mean there's either been an increase in voters, or not everyone picked two songs in the first round.

As an experienced poll master I can advise that it is not uncommon for people to not take their full allocation of votes.

I certainly didn’t. If it was a close race I chose my preferred one only.

There is also the anomaly that you have to cast your votes at once you can’t vote for one and plan to come back later for the 2nd or 3rd as you lose the option.

So is this evidence that democracy is failing or thriving?
