Re: The Ultimate Women's Album - Side 2 Track 2 Nominations

I only tried the one song that 101 got the handy-J to and I wasn't feeling it. Maybe if I were holed up in a hostel with a bunch of sexually liberated European ladies Id have a different point of view. It wasnt bad It just wasn't grabbing me.
You think my rules are toothless? Bam, muthuhfuckuh. There is a vinyl release for [i[Funeral[/i], and "Haiti" is listed as Side 2, Track 3. So, nope, it ain't eligible.

The stupidest thing is that this was in reference to Strange Fruit which didn’t even get any votes.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑23 Aug 2020, 8:48pmYou think my rules are toothless? Bam, muthuhfuckuh. (I wouldn't have checked if not for the jab, so enjoy your just desserts. Thppppt.)
It only seems unfair because you want to use it for Side 2 Track 2. If they'd put six songs instead of five on Side 1, you'd be find. Blame the band, not me. But the vinyl format is in place because if our compilation is meant to emulate a vinyl record, nominations should follow that same principle. Nothing Hestonian about that.matedog wrote: ↑23 Aug 2020, 11:32pmThe stupidest thing is that this was in reference to Strange Fruit which didn’t even get any votes.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑23 Aug 2020, 8:48pmYou think my rules are toothless? But, looks like it wasn’t released on vinyl until a year after the initial release. These rules seem rather Hestonian.
I see it laid in in subsection "b" of like seven subsections to rule #7. Fine, I'll rescind it, but I had something else for track 9, so I'll have to see if that song had a vinyl rerelease x years after its initial release to see wherever the hell that landed. Now I have to go research all my choices from the cd-era to see if it was subsequently and randomly rereleased on vinyl at some later date under the bold assumption that the band had any say in the tracklisting.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑24 Aug 2020, 6:43amIt only seems unfair because you want to use it for Side 2 Track 2. All this was done to avoid a "Paranoid" situation where the person running the game makes decisions on the fly when there's a conflict, leading to people pissed off at the arbitrariness of it all. I didn't want to do this thing if I'd be making arbitrary decisions in the middle of it all. Set the rules out at the start and we all abide by them. I mean, would you be happier if none of this were laid out and I just said, "Nope, it's not allowed because in my view it's a S2T3"? Or it was put to a vote and for whatever reason it went against you? This way it's set out from the start, no haggling or other subjective behaviour after the fact.matedog wrote: ↑24 Aug 2020, 9:17amI see it laid in in subsection "b" of like seven subsections to rule #7. There's no way for there not to be some goofiness and you laid it out in the rules. I didn't read all the rules because they were fucking long. I'm just venting because my song won't get on the list eventhough it wasn't going to go anywhere anyway because it wasn't released in 1981.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑24 Aug 2020, 9:40amAll this was done to avoid a "Paranoid" situation where the person running the game makes decisions on the fly when there's a conflict, leading to people pissed off at the arbitrariness of it all. Hey, I said it was fine and you laid it out in the rules. On me for not reading it ahead of time. Keep it out. I don't want any Paranoid funniness.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑24 Aug 2020, 9:58amFine, fuck it, it's in. I don't give a fuck,. If people want arbitrary, fine. People can nominate whatever the hell they want and I'll add it to the list. My goddamned fucking apologies for putting in the effort to cover bases beforehand so that we wouldn't have these problems down the road.
Shit, Doc. You do whatever works best for you. This is supposed to be fun.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑24 Aug 2020, 11:03amNo, fuck it all. People have bitched from the start about having to spend three minutes reading the guidelines, all of which is pretty straightforward common sense. And interest in the game is clearly waning. I've got other stuff I could be doing with my time, so going forward, nominate anything you want—bands that have already won, bands with male singers, "Paranoid." I'll copy and paste it into a single vote for each round. Vote for as many as you want and I'll end the poll whenever it looks like it's done. Let's just finish this shit off.
