The Ultimate Women's Album - Side 2 Track 3 Vote - Round 3

Post by Dr. Medulla »

Well, colour me surprised. I thought "Groove Is In the Heart" would run away with this, but it grabbed only two votes. Which is also the difference between the top two candidates. The Pretenders fell just short of winning it outright in Round 2, so the question is whether it can get one of those "Groove" votes, or will the Interrupters forge a tie (assuming no new voters from Round 2).

I'll be ok if either wins but I will be pissed if the Interrupters dont make it. Ive already resigned that a lot of non charting songs wont make it.

Hello,

There are certain artists I feel should be included (Suzi Quatro, Joan Jett, Bow Wow Wow) because of the role each played in popular music. I've likewise resigned myself that not all these artists will make the cut due to different factors (e.g., song placement on various albums). It's part of the nature of this activity.

Pauline Black should also be a shoe-in but sadly looks too late.

It was my inaction that led to Heston being exposed as the fraudster he is.

Indirectly. It was Olaf's suspicions that Heston was grifting that exposed him for the small-pox blanket trader he is in his heart.

The Pretenders are a class act even if BIP isn't their very best. A lot of 'jumping ship' voting going on which is the nature of the beast, guessing many 'Groove' votes went that way perhaps?

A question for the Doc... isn't The Interrupters song Side 2 Track 2 on the original vinyl?

Oh for fuck's sake. Turns out The Interrupters, "You're Gonna Find a Way Out" is Side 2 Track 2 on all the vinyl releases (no cassette versions available). So it's ineligible. C'mon, people, take a minute to double check before you nominate as we've now had two botched votes in a row. And thank you to Toppers Boppers for sleuthing (have Toppers Boppers and Olaf ever been seen in the same room at the same time?).

I could restart this round with "Groove is in the Heart" as a substitute, but given that "Brass in the Pocket" was at 50% last time and already accrued as many votes as the previous round, I'm declaring it the winner and we move on to the next round of nominations.
