Well, another late voter who elected to be king (or, in this case, queen) maker (Olaf again?). And The Interruptors finish one vote shy again.
For our last song, anything is eligible as long as it didn't appear on a proper album. Singles-only releases, ep's, live cuts are all legit … as long as they weren't also on the original album. Compilations, of course, are eligible. And, as always, check discogs whether it was on an album. Let's close this bastard out strong!
Blondie, "Hanging On the Telephone"
The Breeders, "Cannonball"
Dusty Springfield, "Son of a Preacher Man"
ABBA, "SOS"
Althea & Donna, "Uptown Top Ranking"
Kate Bush, "Wuthering Heights"
Nina Simone, "To be Young, Gifted, & Black"
Garbage, "Stupid Girl"
The Pretenders, "Brass in the Pocket"
Donna Summer, "I Feel Love"
The Au Pairs, "It's Obvious"
X-Ray Spex, "The Day The World Turned Day-Glo"

I cant be mad about the Spex winning last round.
Question now is do I find a version of Paranoid, go with Fist Fuck by Rockbitch or the Interrupters doing Get Down Moses. Probably go with the latter.
If I can find the time Im gonna create my own perfect version of this comp... with blackjack and hookers.

Not sure if this one qualifies... Aimee Mann - Save Me.
It's on a soundtrack (which is not exclusively Aimee Mann) but I think it was tacked on to the end of a real album after it was nominated for an Oscar (and lost to Phil Collins and his cartoon monkey love song (trademark: Aimee Mann in concert every time she plays the song))
Anyway, yea or nae

The Crystals - Da Doo Ron Ron
Let's finish this album with a real bit of class from the golden age of girl groups which incredibly didn't appear on any original album, only on 1000s of comps.

Crystals will be fucking hard to top, but I'll give my girl Santi another push:

I'd say that because the soundtrack where it originally appeared has other artists on it, it qualifies. (As do all the others thus far.)

I'm assuming it doesn't count against the track if it's ended up as a bonus track reissue or whatever. Anyways:
Patti Smith - Piss Factory
Incredible words and delivery from Patti. This is it folks, the murky soup of protopunk is on the verge of creating punk rock here, and Patti is building the foundations. Defiant, fiery and furious. Great production from Lenny Kaye. Refuse to lose, refuse to fall down.

Abandoning the Interrupters ?

Thanks... I removed the link to Girl in a Coma to avoid any confusion

Yep, got your back again. Interrupters just sound like a female version of Rancid to me. Which isn't a bad thing, really. But the Spex song is a classic.
Actually their version of Get Down Moses is great. Wouldn't complain if that one landed on the album.

Gloria Jones- Tainted Love (the original single version)
