"Please Please Me" was such a monster track for the band and it's still a powerful listen. Their enthusiasm is contagious. I like the harmony on the verses, with John going low and Paul going high and then the call and response on the bridge is great.

Yeah, the lyrics in I Saw Her Standing There don't age as well, historical context acknowledged. Please Please Me rules hard with no blemishes.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

I voted off PPM, as ISHST is melt your face rock 'n' roll.

As good as Standing There is—its got some proper rock n roll aggression to it—Please Please Me is early Beatles perfection, the kind of song that sets them apart from everyone else around them. But if Standing There triumphs, it ain't no crime.

I voted off ISHST, not because of any perceived dodginess of the lyrics (I just dont get the issue of a guy of 20 having the hots for a girl of 17, especially when they could legally be married to this day) but because PPM is just an amazing song.

ISHST this time. A week ago I'd have said differently but after more listens, those harmonies are spot on, PPM is a joy. Only the harmonica ruins what would have been a perfect song.

Just to counter that shocking version of PS I Love You/Love Me Do by Macca that was posted recently, here's an amazing version of PPM. This never fails to move me.

God, if that doesn't make you smile, you might be made of stone.

I bought the DVD when it came out! So good.

They also do I'll Get You, which is just so great.
