Going with Please Mr. Postman in this round. It pales not only in comparison to the original, but I think it's the weakest track remaining.

I'm not sure if I've heard the original of Postman but I really like the Beatles version, especially the backing vocals. Gonna have a listen now.

Don't Bother Me, sounds half arsed and prime filler.

That's an example where I'll certainly say the original is vastly superior.WestwayKid wrote: ↑19 Oct 2020, 1:49pmGoing with Please Mr. Postman in this round. It pales not only in comparison to the original, but I think it's the weakest track remaining.

Yeah, just listened. Great vocal. It never charted in the UK and I've never heard it on the radio so always just knew the Beatles and Carpenters versions.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑19 Oct 2020, 5:23pmThat's an example where I'll certainly say the original is vastly superior.WestwayKid wrote: ↑19 Oct 2020, 1:49pmGoing with Please Mr. Postman in this round. The Beatles cover isn't bad but the Marvelettes' version and vocals just stick in my mind so much more.

Here it is with Pete Best:

And here's a great cover of Don't Bother Me:
Really reveals it to be a fun samba-twist thing, which was so in vogue around '63.

I know I’m an extremist on this front already, but the original in this case is inarguably superior.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑19 Oct 2020, 5:23pmThat's an example where I'll certainly say the original is vastly superior.WestwayKid wrote: ↑19 Oct 2020, 1:49pmGoing with Please Mr. Postman in this round.
