With the Beatles / Side B / Round 5
"You Really Got a Hold on Me" has been cast out.

I Wanna Be Your Man. It's not bad but the other two, HMT especially, are superb.

I adore the verses on You Really Got a Hold On Me, shame to see it go, whoever's version. Voted for I Wanna Be Your Man, it's limp and annoying.

Lost Money. Ringo's best early song for the win.

Honestly, nothing really grabs me on this side. I believe Heston called it the weakest side of their career. I agree. "Hold Me Tight" is a clumsy leftover from Please Please Me. "I Wanna Be Your Man" was thrown together for the Stones and then tossed to Ringo. Money is a pretty solid cover. It's not better than the original, but Lennon sounds ferocious.

I think You Really Got a Hold On Me is better than the 3 remaining tracks. As was pointed out earlier, it's not so much whether it's better than the original (it's not), but whether it's better than the other tracks on the side (it is).Silent Majority wrote: ↑21 Oct 2020, 4:22pmI adore the verses on You Really Got a Hold On Me, shame to see it go, whoever's version. That keyboard is pretty wild on IWBYM and it is a very solid song. Vote Ringo.

"It Won't Be Long" is better than both of them.

I'll use one of your arguments against you: "All My Loving" was a single; "It Won't Be Long" wasn't. So the Beatles camp clearly believed one was better than the other.Heston wrote: ↑21 Oct 2020, 8:41pm"It Won't Be Long" is better than both of them.

This is right, and before we hear this “but this was a single” argument, they released “the Ballad of John and Yoko” as a single.Heston wrote: ↑21 Oct 2020, 8:41pm"It Won't Be Long" is better than both of them.
