AHDB - Side B - Round 1

Post by WestwayKid »

The second side is not as strong as the first side, but still some fantastic songs to choose from.

I'll Be Back. Such a limp choice to close the album on.

A Hard Day's Bite

When I Get Home. A bit of album filler/"work song", though it's got some great bits.

I will do whatever it takes to protect Anytime At All and I'll Cry Instead.

You know this is a great album when a song as good as I'll Be Back is heading for the chop first.

Bad choice to end the album on but still a good song I think. Probably should have ended with Things We Said Today.

I'll Cry Instead. The Beatles, country style doesn't tickle my fancy.

That's the one I went with. Pretty criminal that I'll Be Back is losing to it.

I've always found it interesting how country influenced they were around 1964. I once read that they had an agreement that Capital would send them a copy of every new Buck Owens release.

I have never encountered a person whose every musical instinct is the exact opposite of mine in every conceivable way until Tom, who has become my personal Hoy, Heston and Waterloo.

I wouldn’t say that for me, but the Beatles picked great country songs to cover, and while I uniformly prefer the originals, they’re always fun.
