Y’all aren’t going to convince me that four white dudes tapped into a Chuck Berry song better than Chuck Berry. Prefer it all you want, but you’re arguing in a manner where I cannot help but reject your premise outright.

De gustibus etc. etc. but you aren’t convincing me.
That seems like an argument from principle rather than judging the actual results. Like you, if you genuinely prefer Chuck's version, that's cool, but to suggest that under no circumstances could "four white dudes" do a better version sounds like judging the results regardless of hearing them.
Sure. But arguing Lennon has a “better rock’n’roll voice” is exactly zero percent more of an argument so...

Baby's in Black is great what is wrong with you people

Forgive the dusty meme.
It sounds like that old nursery rhyme, "Johnny's So Long At the Fair." And those harmonies are just too queasily country and western for me.
But the bridge! My god, the bridge!

A bridge too far.

Save for it being rooted in actually listening to the song and making an evaluation. It's all subjective, sure, but my position depends on listening to the respective versions.

These weren't just "four white dudes", they were the fucking Beatles. John and Paul are up there with the greatest singers this planet has ever produced.

No, I'm not a fan of the Beatles rnrm. Lennon's vocal is fine, but the music itself is actually pretty poorly played. And for me, Berry's vocal is ten times cooler, sexier, and more defiant. Lennon doesn't get any soul out in his performance, he's paying tribute to a great but he doesn't fully understand what makes Chuck great.

John definitely but Paul is not in the same league for me.
