Poll Update 11-18-20

Post by WestwayKid »

We'll be wrapping up Help! tomorrow and instead of rolling right into Rubber Soul we'll be taking a look at Past Masters Volume 1.

This covers all non-LP tracks from the October 5, 1962 "Love Me Do" single through "I'm Down" (which was the B-side to the "Help!" single).

I think we should look at (and judge) these tracks now because it's important to try and keep things close musically. "I Call Your Name" sounds ancient compared to "Get Back" and so on.

There will be 18 tracks in this first round of Past Masters. I'll split them into two sides. Because these collections tend to be skewed towards singles, we're going to pick the top-2 from each side to move to the semifinals.

Side A:
"Love Me Do"
"From Me to You"
"Thank You Girl"
"She Loves You"
"I'll Get You"
"I Want to Hold Your Hand"
"This Boy"
"Komm, gib mir deine Hand"
"Sie liebt dich"

Side B:
"Long Tall Sally"
"I Call Your Name"
"Slow Down"
"Matchbox"
"I Feel Fine"
"She's a Woman"
"Bad Boy"
"Yes It Is"
"I'm Down"

There might be some duplication of tracks. We've already voted on the LP version of "Love Me Do" and now we'll be evaluating the single version. I don't see this as an issue.

Anyway, this has been a lot of fun so far. Crazy to think we started this over a month ago and it will probably be 2021 before we finish!!

Ditto. Plus not a single fuck up. WWK might be a wizard.

Yeah, it has been very error-free so far. And it's been good to revisit these albums which sometimes just sit there being taken for granted. What a band.

And to find out that Beatles For Sale is Flex's favourite Beatles record. Which I still can't fathom.

A curious expression of contrariness. I'm not sure if I admire you or not.
