Revolver - Side A - Round 1
...and we enter the band's psychedelic period with an LP that was almost called Abracadabra or Four Sides to the Circle or Magic Circle or After Geography (a fun play on the Stones' Aftermath from Ringo) or Bubble and Squeak or Beatles on Safari or Freewheelin' Beatles.

I despise Here, There and Everywhere and will be voting for it every round until it goes.

Re: Revolver - Side A - Round 1
I can finally start voting again. Love You To is hot garbage.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

WTF? Yellow Submarine is great.

Anyone who picked Heston not to hate the Ringo song, you foolish foolish people, you lose.

Re: Revolver - Side A - Round 1
I picked Yellow Submarine because I genuinely don't like it, but I DO like Ringo songs normally.
I'm Only Sleeping is my pick to win for this side. The chord changes are nice and unexpected, backwards guitar solo, and it has a mini bass thing.

Re: Revolver - Side A - Round 1
"I'm Only Sleeping" and "She Said She Said" should be the final two. So it'll end up being "Eleanor Rigby" and Heston gloating.
edit: Also, while Yellow Sub will never be a favourite, I've come to appreciate its simple, goofy sincerity. If the band were becoming serious and earnest artists, they could still do something distinctly childlike.

I love the last verse of Submarine with the distant, echo-y repetition vocal.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑11 Dec 2020, 5:07pm"I'm Only Sleeping" and "She Said She Said" should be the final two. So it'll end up being "Eleanor Rigby" and Heston gloating.

Meant to vote Yellow Sub but accidently added one to IOS. Yeah, it's a bit of a laugh but fairly poor.
Re: Revolver - Side A - Round 1
That doesn't account for the OTHER vote. Who doesn't like IOS?
