Taxman, to preserve the radical conventionality of ER.

I was quite disappointed when I found that Paul performs the guitar solo rather than George.

Huh. George gets arguably his best song date to lead off their most challenging album, and he doesn't play guitar. There's always something to generate grievance.

Paul was a pretty good axe slinger. I've heard it argued that he was actually the best guitarist in the band.

He plays lead, but not on the solo - which is handled by Paul.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑16 Dec 2020, 1:38pmHuh. George gets arguably his best song date to lead off their most challenging album, and he doesn't play guitar. There's always something to generate grievance.

He played guitar on it, I believe, just not the solo. Paul "had an idea" he wanted to try out. I can't remember if George was pissed about it though. For a guy who found peace in Eastern religions, George was also permanently in snit mode.Kory wrote: ↑16 Dec 2020, 1:43pmHe played guitar on it, I believe, just not the solo. You just want a face off between TKN and ER in the final. I assure you, you will lose.

As someone who's been in a band with a Paul, I have endless sympathy for him.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑16 Dec 2020, 2:02pmFor a guy who found peace in Eastern religions, George was also permanently in snit mode.Kory wrote: ↑16 Dec 2020, 1:43pmHe played guitar on it, I believe, just not the solo. I'm skeptical that TKN will make it out of its side. But, no, I'm bowing to how pathbreaking ER is in the history of pop.

Re: Revolver - Side A - Round 4
George is, in terms of outlook and personality, my Beatle (even tho John's and Paul's work were both better on the whole). But he seemed to spend three-quarters of his time as a Beatle hating being a Beatle. As much an overbearing turd Paul could be, I can only imagine how exhausting having this dark cloud in the studio must have been.Kory wrote: ↑16 Dec 2020, 2:13pmAs someone who's been in a band with a Paul, I have endless sympathy for him.Dr. I believe I've heard George speak positively of the solo...though he might have been talking about Paul's bass playing. Either way, he was thankful that Paul gave it an Indian sounding tinge.Kory wrote: ↑16 Dec 2020, 1:43pmHe played guitar on it, I believe, just not the solo. Paul "had an idea" he wanted to try out.
