Abbey Road - Side A - Round 2
With Maxwell's Silver Hammer gone, this side now becomes very difficult for me.

Maxwell is 2x the song Something is
Re: Abbey Road - Side A - Round 2
Seconded.
Re: Abbey Road - Side A - Round 2
That stupid little melodic motif on Something sucks.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Frank Sinatra, the senile bully, described it as the finest love song of our time.

Something is overrated. I'm not saying it's a bad song - it has some solid moments...but it is overrated.

You guys just don't like Something because it's a sappy love song.
I like it.

I tell you, it was a good day when I realised that loving the sound of sappy love songs didn't mean I also had to break my heart or expect a partner to be the thing that solved all my problems or made me happy every day!

I actually like Sinatra's version of something, because it fits his (by then) conservative style and outlook so well. Let's bounce it.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead
Pex Lives!

Better him than George Harrison.
Re: Abbey Road - Side A - Round 2
That's actually not so bad. The motif is less grating when it's orchestral.

I'm not happy about OG getting so many votes. Endearing song, great band performance and lovely backing vocals. I find I Want You a bit heavy going.but I voted for Something.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board
Re: Abbey Road - Side A - Round 2
I Want You is great. It's the Lover's Rock of their catalog.
