The Finals

Post by WestwayKid »

"I Saw Her Standing There"
"It Won't Be Long"
"A Hard Day's Night"
"Eight Days a Week"
"Help!"
"In My Life"
"Tomorrow Never Knows"
"A Day in the Life"
"Strawberry Fields Forever"
"Happiness Is a Warm Gun"
"Hey Bulldog"
"Golden Slumbers" / "Carry That Weight" / "The End"
"Across the Universe"
"She Loves You"
"Revolution"

I need to think about how we're going to finish this up. The easiest thing would be to just throw all of the songs into 1 poll and then we'd just whittle it down.

Wow, what a great list. For me it would be very difficult to put those songs in any type of order, I think they're all top notch.

My suggestion: Three batches, covering '64–'66, '67–'68, and '68–'70. The final final vote will be of three songs, one each representing early, middle, and late.

Tho looking at it, it might requiring some finessing otherwise the first period will be disproportionately large.

edit: A chronological and equalized breakdown. Holy crap but that middle section is a monster. Four legit picks for best overall.

I vote for an all-in-one deathmatch! Make people make difficult decisions!

Perhaps a poll for the best methodology would be in order...

I'd also prefer an all-in-one showdown. Could be interesting to see how songs from different periods perform against each other.

we should do a convoluted seeding process and see if we can keep this going another 6 months

If WWK adds another song and randomizes match-ups, we could bracket this shit. The misery and griping could be quite special.

Could be a chance for Eleanor Rigby to fight another day.

More seriously, I throw my support behind all in one deathmatch. Seems like the cleanest way to vote the weakest songs off at this point.

Or, like, maybe a good song could get another chance. Now go tend to your knitting, grandma.
