Shit, another oversight on my part. I can't say I genuinely dig it, but it's a significant transitional piece in LA punk. Hopefully someone seconds this.

Damn what a great year. I would honestly suggest we just exclude the Clash in the first place to save a round.

I'll third it.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑12 May 2021, 11:01amShit, another oversight on my part. I can't say I genuinely dig it, but it's a significant transitional piece in LA punk. Hopefully someone seconds this.
I'd also go along with Wolter suggestion to exclude the Clash from round 1.

I’d exclude it overall. It’s gonna win regardless. Let’s make it the best non-London Calling album to give some stakes.

My failures elevate you all; I live to serve.
For those voting for the Clash in the first round, yeah, Wolter and Sparky are correct that you're basically forfeiting one of your votes if you care about things strategically. For the sake of fairness, tho, keep them in overall. Buster Douglas beat Mike Tyson, after all.

Why not run the quiz, then the winner goes head to head with London Calling? That way it’s not just some bullshit of watching a pitcher hit a sac bunt to appear fair.

Bruhs, it's five votes PLUS a nomination this round so make sure to don't "wait" to vote until next round if you wanted to nominate something.

I was told bunting is what makes the game exciting!
P.S. I'm fine keeping LC in as an exercise in exploring voting behavior if nothing else.

Ok, fine. Sound On Sound by Bill Nelson’s Red Noise.
I’ll let someone else decide which Motörhead album to nominate.

It doesn't hurt anything to keep LC in. It's just an extra line in the poll, and maybe someone wants to be bold enough to argue for something else towards the end.

Re: Greatest Album of 1979 - Preliminary Round 1
It wasn't an album so it wouldn't qualify, but just want to point out that Rapper's Delight was released as a single in 79, in case anyone wanted to remember how important this year was not just in punk-adjacent music.
And I wouldn't nominate it, but Bob Dylan's Slow Train Coming was also released this year which featured his religious music and production by Jerry Wexler. Produced a massive hit for him and is generally regarded as a high point in his catalog.
Addendum: oh, and a little album called Off The Wall came out that year too. Crazy.
