Greatest Album of 1979 - Preliminary Round 2

Post by Dr. Medulla »

So, after one round of thinning, things have gotten fatter, in no small part because someone besides Heston decided to vote for Dynasty. Let me speak for the rest of the board in saying, "Jesus fucking Christ …."

So, The B-52's, The Raincoats, and XTC all get the boot for not getting at least two votes, while The Germs, The Ruts, The Skids, and Stiff Little Fingers are added via the nomination/seconding route. If you nominated something and it wasn't added, it's because it wasn't seconded (in essence, it received only one vote).

*No more nominations will be accepted going forward*

To properly thin the herd, the threshold for survival goes up to three votes and the number of votes each person gets is four. I can't say how much this will thin things, but I'd rather be conservative than aggressive resulting in too many getting shivved all at once. My guess is that after Friday we'll have our final ten to start next week.

(Fake edit: It'd be far more interesting to see how this played out if people couldn't see the results until it was over. It'd certainly hinder strategic voting.)

Sorry, folks. I added Bill Nelson per Wolter's alert, but then realized that he'd already seconded the Germs, and couldn't nominate after that. Removing BN wiped out those earlier votes, so please vote again (I think it'll only affect a few of you).

Queue up the tin foil hats!
Only having 4 votes makes it even more of a challenge, so I had to vote strategically to help some of my faves make it another round. I figure the Clash LC is a given, so I distributed my votes elsewhere.
