Happy heavenly birthday, 50.5W continues to do you proud, looks like she will be competing at the Olympics.
That's amazing. Do you have any links to news articles or anything?

Wow, that's awesome. Thanks for sharing - I will definitely be following her this summer.

I can't imagine a birthday gift Wally would have preferred than her daughter in the Olympics.

That’s awesome and thanks for sharing.

Anytime something wild happens in track and field (men’s discuss record broken this year!) I want to discuss with him. Well that and our mild enjoyment of Coldplay.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Thanks all. I have mentioned this before but 101W used to send me links showing Imogen’s performances from time to time. I was genuinely interested because the pole vault technique is incredible to watch plus she is almost exactly the same age as Laxgirl, which felt like a bit of a connection. He was clearly immensely proud of her but also he didn’t exactly shout her success from the rooftops on here. I guess in the same way that he didn’t mention to us how poorly he was. You probably saw in the article that she won the medal at the Commonwealth Games with a broken bone. Clearly a tough kid.

Somewhere there is a link of her in a domestic tournament where she speaks to 101W a couple of times. I will try to find it.

EDIT - here is an article, which is a bit of a tough read.

I think the photos are from the video that I am looking for.

Happy BD 101, I joined after you'd already left us, I wish I could have had the opportunity to get to know you. From everything I've read and those who've posted, you sound like a really solid, all around good guy.

Thanks too to Laxman for posting the article on his daughter, now I know I'm going to have to watch some track & field events in the upcoming Summer Olympics.

Happy birthday Wally—I had an urge to listen to some 2 Tone today, that must be the reason.

No problem. Sadly I couldn't find the video. I think it was embedded in a write up on a NZ sports news website rather than on Youtube. I read back through some PM exchanges with 101W and he had shared an Instagram video of it with me from Imogen's page but unfortunately the link had expired.

That was a good nudge, thanks. I checked and it looks like our girl is competing on 5 August.

OK, it looks like Imogen is in Group B, there's 15 competitors per group, and it's in the wee hours of the morning (depending where you live). I'll check it when I get home form work
