No, I knew this was coming since I was a child. My grandfather had the wispy stuff on the crown and not much else on top by the time he was in his 50s (my earliest memories of him)

Maternal grandfather, I assume? It almost always comes thru the mother's line. My mother's brother was bald and while my brother has escaped it, two of four nephews (all from my sisters) are in the same boat.
