The first Satch's Forums comp snohy made in 2002.

Slightly before my time, but I still recognize most of those monikers... dude_guy29 is Inder, right?
Whoa, kory was on this in 2002? Must have been pretty young too. I guess Inder and Eumaas were also teens.

What was the story behind that comp? Each person pick a song?
Yeah, I guess so, to celebrate 100 members.
Who pfaffed the pfaff? Who got pfaffed tonight?

I joined in 2006 when I was dating Marlene #1! I've made a ton of friends on this site, many who I've been fortunate enough to hang out with in person and the interactions have heavily influenced my political ideology and musical taste. I do regret a bit of my brasher and more immature posts in the first four or five years, but it is what it is.
Everyone's been an intolerable dick on here at least once. Even me :shifty:
Yep. Unfortunately. Regretfully. :disshame:

This thread has made my day.

Y'all are the best.

Honoured to have met Inder in London in 2014 at a pub in Belsize Park ... was it the White Horse?

I remember it now ... it was The Garden Gate.

It’s absolutely wild that I’ve known many, if not most, of you longer than I’ve known my wife. When I joined I was 26 and living in Charleston. Now I’m 45 and married with two kids, living in the Chicago suburbs. Damn. Here’s to me being 65 and still popping in to argue with Heston.

I've mentioned it before, but I sincerely believe that this community would make for a fuck of an interesting sociological study on music fandom, in no small part because I think we're fairly unusual in our fandom—we're not really elitist or devotional (we have other music passions and enjoy taking the piss out of Clash idolatry), and we've morphed into a community that exists well beyond that fandom (that is, the vast majority of our conversations aren't Clash-related). If postmodern life has been defined (in part) by fragmentation, we're bound up by a fairly wide swath of common interests and oppositions.

Happy 20th to my favorite online community. You guys have been there for me through all of the ups and downs. And Inder, thanks for doing all that you do!

We lost 101W and Hayes in the last ten years. Still miss those guys.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Fuck, that one still hurts. An absolute dynamo when I met him. He couldn't understand a word of my Geordie accent, we had to get a German to translate.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Yeah. That was a loss. Really wish I could’ve met him in person.

I've been around for a long time, maybe since Joe died or before if it was around then, i usually just lurked but have come out of my shell. I've never met anyone from the board but I'd love to buy Marky a drink and talk shop with him while getting loaded. You all seem like a really good group of people.

And cannot forget my friend Inde Seb, who rocks the world with his amazing musical talent, wish I met him while I was over in Paris some 25 years ago.
