Happy birthday to my ex-colleague in the Thought Police! Ah, the war stories we could tell, cleaning up the mean thought streets of thought criminals, even while being hamstrung by liberal thought judges. But we still enacted thought justice our own way, didn't we?

Hard to believe we've been yakking back and forth for, like, two decades now. It's impossible for me to convey how much you've improved my life. Challenging, provoking, enriching me intellectually, always highlighting the moral dimension to any political discussion. And the dumb hijinx—never someone to miss an opportunity for well-played smartass snark because this is a place that appreciates stuff like that in a way that the real world doesn't. Thanks all! Had to cancel plans for a little ski trip so ended up just relaxing at home and such. Got to head to my local brewery by myself and enjoy a few beers and some uninterrupted reading (yeah, I'm that guy at the bar) and then the missus hosted my traditional birthday evening of "chicken and a movie." A good rejuvenating day.

I also count st.. Patrick's Day as birthday part 2 usually, so I'll treat myself to some baseball, beer and music today as well. Good weekend.
