Hacked! What a pain in the ass
While the board was down I got majorily hacked. It all started when I was tagged by someone in facebook. Now I perform so I'm used to people taking pictures of me and tagging me all that so I stupidly clicked on who tagged me which brought me to some strange page, next thing I knew someone was posting on my page. I tried to call facebook security but there is no such number and got scammed and then scammed again. It's ugly and shameful. How could I let this happen to me. I'm working to get back what I lost but what a hassle!

You can't trust anybody, or anything. It's crazy!

Re: Hacked! What a pain in the ass
Sorry to hear that, but as others says it's crazy common now. I basically see a constant stream of those tagged posts (once or twice I'm tagged, usually it's other friends). I never click on them, always report them, but they just seem to proliferate more and more.
It's a major PITA, but I don't think you're unique in falling for this sort of thing.

Easier said then done, the amount of shame and guilt I feel is incredible. I consider myself a reasonably smart person and to fall into that trap is just inexcusable

My mom had some nasty stuff happen a few months ago that all started with an email saying she was being billed for Norton Anti-Virus, which I actually provide her via my multi user license package. She naively gave them access to her computer and they installed two remote desktop type programs and proceeded to log in to her bank accounts and make transfers. Fortunately we were able to recover the funds, but I spent days with her at the bank trying to straighten all this out, not to mention cleaning up her computer and changing every single password she had.

The scammers are getting smarter every day, it's no shame to get caught in a professional liar's web.

This happened to me a few months back. I'm not sure how they got in but they used my account to start a solicitation account and got MY account deleted permanently by FB. Lost all my photos, and any I was tagged in. Just remember that you don't own your account, so make sure to back stuff up if it matters to you. There's not really any FB support to speak of.coffeepotman wrote: ↑15 May 2024, 8:02amWhile the board was down I got majorily hacked. It all started when I was tagged by someone in facebook. I agree, I hope I can recover my FB, but it's not the end of the world... and yes, back stuff up, luckily I dl photos from FB and keep off line so I have a lot of the images but not nearly all of them.Kory wrote: ↑15 May 2024, 1:21pmThis happened to me a few months back. Yeah, I tried for a few days but there's just nobody there. It wouldn't let me appeal or anything.coffeepotman wrote: ↑15 May 2024, 1:47pmI agree, I hope I can recover my FB, but it's not the end of the world... and yes, back stuff up, luckily I dl photos from FB and keep off line so I have a lot of the images but not nearly all of them.Kory wrote: ↑15 May 2024, 1:21pmThis happened to me a few months back.
