We’ve got him moving. The target is 15 lbs. he’s 23 lbs today.
That there is Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin of Crime!

I assume given that he's not, um, underfed, he was a surrender?
He was abandoned on a street corner in Queens. We can only guess but I think he was overfed by an old person, that person died or couldn't care for him anymore, and someone just dumped him. All said he's a sweet guy.

That's amazing! She and Howard do such great work in the rescue community. She even rescued a guinea pig once! Congrats on your new family member.
They really do great work. I haven't met them but my wife has and says they're lovely people in person. It makes me wonder why more people with a ton of money don't do decent things with it. I like to think I would.

He's adorable. How old?
Four or Five but we're guessing. He's way more able bodied than we thought he'd be. I think he'll drop the weight now that he'd on a regiment and has a house to run around.
I love watching the chonkers on their weight loss journeys. Good luck. It's one of those endeavors that seems challenging and rewarding at the same time.

So very sad. But it's worked out great for all involved.

We're going through something similar trying to get two beautiful mature cats adopted after my father in law passed recently. We've posted at pet shops, vet offices, on line sites and it just seems like people want kittens. I'm glad you were able to see the value in giving a loving forever home to a cat who didn't deserve to be dumped.

My fantasy of winning a billion dollars is to buy a massive farm and fill it with all the small animals who don't have homes. Even Jesus would have to ignore the whole atheism thing if I've misjudged death.

Yes! There is an organization called The Pipsqueekery that I donate to that I would give millions to if I could. It's basically what you describe - a small animal sanctuary. Mainly all kinds of rodents from mice to capybaras, but other animals as well.

That's exceptional. I'll have to see if there's something comparable in Canada (gotta try to stay loyal first).

Yep! I follow an organization on IG called Farm Animal Refuge that takes in old or injured farm animals as well as rescues from labs and hoarding cases. They've inspired me to how I would love to spend the rest of my days on earth.

A decade or so ago, for Christmas the Boss adopted for me an elephant from a refuge in Africa. They take in elephants and rhinos until they're ready to be released back. I love getting the updates and the photos of the newcomers. It's sad but comforting simultaneously.

He’s not svelte but he’s curious and can move pretty well.
