Got new glasses today, digressive lenses rather than progressive (just like how I write and talk). Went for frames that make me look slightly less perma-peeved.

Swans shirt to show I'm still kinda perma-peeved.

You look confused.
I think the nurses are stealing my money.
Oh geez, I remember having those discussions with my grandpa. He tried to recruit my friend and I to "bust him out".
My mother went into a nursing home after a fall that presumably gave her a concussion. She rapidly went downhill from there, but one of her recurring scenarios was that the RCMP were breaking into her room while she slept and stealing from her. She was usually lucid enough to know that wasn't true, but she was still compromised enough that she couldn't understand why she was having these false beliefs.
I had an great uncle who was wheelchair bound and actually escaped from a nursing home and was wheeling down a very busy road before it was noticed he was gone.

I read some time back that some hospitals and nursing homes have painted bus stops and put in benches because it helps keep patients with dementia from leaving. They recognize that sitting there means a bus will eventually come and take them away, and because their sense of time is compromised, they'll just keep sitting until someone discovers them.

The frames look good. Picking frames is a tough one, I'm probably going to get a new pair later this year when we have our annual checkups.

Today I had to drop my almost 2 year old prescription reading glasses for them to fix one of the temple pieces that had a drift pin instead of a screw (lame idea). Now I'm stuck with my probably 6 year old readers that are ok, but now great.

Growing old blows.

Luckily my original pair of progressives work perfectly fine—I'll probably still use them during lectures as they're better for longer distance than these, which are ideal for computer work—so if something goes wrong, I ain't out to dry.

But your greater point about growing old is indisputably correct. I've got arthritis (self-diagnosed) in a couple toes and a persistent case of tendonitis in my right arm that's really limited what I can do. I'm worried about winter coming up and having to shovel.

I've had to take a break from running, my left knee is hurting (probably arthritis too).

Have you looked in to getting a smallish snow blower perhaps?

I do have an electric snow blower (I think they're called snow throwers, officially), but I rarely feel the snowfall enough to justify using it. Depending on how things go, I might well use it more this winter.

But, sorry to hear your running is paused again. Growing old definitely sucks.

Hello,

I'm sorry but I disagree that getting old is a bad thing. I can't run as fast or jump as high as I used to - but I can still run, I can still burn calories. Current me enjoys a workout more than younger me. Current me is wiser than younger me. Current me appreciates things more than younger me. I have a son, younger me did not.

I'm going to live forever - so far, so good.

I have to agree with you on all of the above, when I'm venting about aging, it's me frustrated with the little things like my vision and body aches. In reality I'm probably in better physical condition that most of those I grew up with in my age group, for that, I need to be grateful.
