I'm sorry but I disagree that getting old is a bad thing. I can't run as fast or jump as high as I used to - but I can still run, I can still burn calories. Current me enjoys a workout more than younger me. Current me is wiser than younger me. Current me appreciates things more than younger me. I have a son, younger me did not.

I'm going to live forever - so far, so good.

I have to agree with you on all of the above, when I'm venting about aging, it's me frustrated with the little things like my vision and body aches. In reality I'm probably in better physical condition that most of those I grew up with in my age group, for that, I need to be grateful.

Overall, of course I'm fine with getting older/old. I accept my inadequacies now instead of being frustrated or angered by them. My intellectual curiosity is probably stronger than ever, supported by previous knowledge and experience to try to make sense of it all, and I like meeting new people more (tho I'll never be an especially social person). But I reserve the right to sincerely grouse about how my body is breaking down. I'm still in better shape than most and I know it's all part of the aging process, but it's still frustrating when the body is increasingly resistant to what the mind wants it to do.
