Just got home from a week in Ontario. We very much enjoyed ourselves. Here’s my son in Orillia hanging out by a statue of Gordon Lightfoot.

Sorry I can’t figure out how to flip the photo.
This is kind of peak Canada, no?

Thankfully, Gordon Lightfoot fandom is almost entirely contained to Boomers, so we're just waiting for it to die out.

We bought some maple syrup at a farmer's market about 5 minutes after this photo was taken!

He comes to town (Milwaukee) seemingly every year. Kind of crazy the guy is still touring.

If The Fixx and .38 Special can still find bookings, there's still gotta be an audience for Gordon Lightfoot.

Ugh. The thought of seeing .38 Special live is just a really depressing thought.

I think you have to drink a lot of Bud Light Lime to get into it.

Sounds good... !

We watched an episode of "Dirty Money" while we were out there that dealt with a maple syrup heist in Quebec. Those Quebecers don't mess around...they even have a maple syrup federation!

My overall impression of Toronto is that it feels like a happier version of Chicago (and with far less murder). I had several people tell me before we left that I'd be surprised what a clean city it was, but honestly - it wasn't any cleaner than any other big city I've been to. Their mass transit is quite nice. I definitely liked that the city felt very multicultural. I'd definitely go back and explore some more - but not sure where that would fall on the priority list. We're talking about Montreal in the not too distant future, but Toronto is so doable from Milwaukee - 9 hours on the road - that we'll probably end up back there sooner than later.

That's because they have had so many problems with fake syrup and syrup tainted with other sweeteners.
