I knew a guy in grad school in the mid-late 90s who had been there for 7 years working on his master's degree because he kept disappearing for months at a time to follow Rush.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑04 Dec 2021, 4:46pmRight. Sorry, I was caught up in being flabbergasted by sincere Rush fandom. Especially young people who were born well after the band was allegedly good.

There's something Satanic and supernatural about the delusional hold that band has on people.
I generally avoided him.

I still have contempt for them but I accept that its a thing.Kimmelweck wrote: ↑16 Dec 2021, 9:30pmApparently it was in the mid-late 90s.revbob wrote: ↑16 Dec 2021, 9:25pmThat's a thing?Kimmelweck wrote: ↑16 Dec 2021, 9:21pmI knew a guy in grad school in the mid-late 90s who had been there for 7 years working on his master's degree because he kept disappearing for months at a time to follow Rush.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑04 Dec 2021, 4:46pmRight. Re: Oh Canada!
A couple of my best friends have seen Phish well over 200 times. I’ve seen them twice, when they played within 45 minutes of here – last time was about 15 years ago. That’s more than enough for me. It was fun, but not because of the music. I can’t imagine the 7 night stands in Vegas or at MSG that they travel to regularly. When I stop over at their houses, I’m forever trying to turn them on to good music. We have a running gag that Phish should hire me to blast Clash tunes over a loudspeaker, harshing everyone’s mellow, to clear the parking lot after a show.revbob wrote: ↑16 Dec 2021, 9:38pmIve met/known people who have followed the Grateful Dead or Phish. Wouldn’t surprise me. Though I doubt he even needed the master’s degree, more of a vanity thing, because his family was rich as fuck.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑16 Dec 2021, 10:09pmI expect he's in prison now.Kimmelweck wrote: ↑16 Dec 2021, 9:21pmI knew a guy in grad school in the mid-late 90s who had been there for 7 years working on his master's degree because he kept disappearing for months at a time to follow Rush.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑04 Dec 2021, 4:46pmRight. If you’re a Canadian Boomer or Xer, you almost certainly still love Bob and Doug. I still spin their album from time to time and love it all over again.Sparky wrote: ↑24 Dec 2021, 9:35amGood one, I was hoping for a video of those guys, love their old shows.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑24 Dec 2021, 7:43amhttps://www.cbc.ca/radio/costofliving/s ... -1.6293759

Just saw that clip a few days ago and thought it was hilarious. Thanks for giving me a reason to post it.
