I saw a guy with a baseball hat that said Canada on it and it also had flames on it. It was NOT a Calgary Flames hat.

When I was a kid and we visited our cousins in Ottawa they always had a steady stream of Newfie jokes...all bad. Like how does a Newfie tie his shoes stuff like that.
Standard, fill in the ethnicity of your choice stuff. Growing up in Saskatchewan, they were Ukrainian jokes. Whether it's a degree of political correctness or, more likely, 3rd generation acculturation, Ukrainian jokes are less common now.
I had no idea about Moving Day. I'm not sure I see it as some kind of insult to Anglo Canada, tho, by having it coincide with Canada Day. We're going massively inconvenience ourselves on a day that everyone else gets to relax! Take that!

Not-so-fun fact: A friend and colleague here is the uncle of the young woman who was killed. Neither he nor her parents have really come to grips with what happened. I stay quiet when the subject comes up.

that's horrible. where's this story been hiding though, according to the libtard media, no one has been murdered in Canada since 1887.
