I hope Tom isn't in a meat pie, we haven't heard from him today.
Hope he's well

Thank you gents. Went straight to the pub after work with my brother, just got in. He took it ok but still managed to fit in "you do know I overpayed you given the work you do." "You're not worth the money I pay you." Oh and also I should be grateful to him.

Oh well, tell it to my next boss, the boss that's paying me more than he did!
So he is a dick and its a good thing you left. He's an asshole who is taking it personally so he's attacking you.
He also said that he was the most easy going boss I'll work for. Wouldn't bet on that. I'm far from perfect at my job but I know what I'm doing. I gave 100% and it was obvious but if he doesn't see that, it's not my problem!
Bosses who make statements like that are almost always just the opposite. Glad it's over and you get to move on to better things!

A role that would be my next logical promotion may be opening up in the short term. I'm going to apply. They might think it's a bit soon for me - I only took on my current role two weeks ago - but I know I'm ready.

It's good to apply even if you get told you're not ready, shows your ambition, etc.

Shows the perfect attitude I personally think, to have the bollocks to go for it can only be a good thing here. Best of luck.

Here's hoping that your new employer is more respectful and that the mad cows are kept in straightjackets.

Thank you, day went really well, good bunch of blokes there and most importantly, they cook sausages and bacon for breakfast nearly every morning.
