Spent nearly all day updating the cv/new cover letter and applying for management jobs, would be a massive step up but need to otherwise I'll be stuck in this rut forever.

Best of luck Tom. How common are butcher shops over there?

Fewer and fewer these days, so I'm trying to broaden myself to general retail stores. Have that retail experience so just need an in. Fingers crossed anyway.

So supermarkets etc..?
Mainly yeah, but anywhere that deals with customer service I'll wing em a CV.

Do UK supermarkets have the equivalent of a butcher shop in them? They kind of do here, but I don't know if they arrive pre-butchered to the shops over there.

They do but they're usually quite basic and mostly pre butchered. Looking to get out of it though, pay is pretty much minimum wage for a skilled job which is ridiculous. Also there's little to no path of progression so sooner the better really.
The place I work has another shop a few miles up the road, they are looking for a new butchery manager, I may be underqualified but want to show an interest, to show I want progression into a managerial role. How would you say is best to go around this?

Do you have a supervisor that you have a good rapport with? I would consider just asking them for some details on it and then bunging out a resume if they are supportive.

Cheers mate, hoping to have a chat on Friday with him. Funnily enough I've been asked to work at the other place Saturday as they're short staffed, will see how that goes.
