In my experience Guinness is a drink that has never travelled well. Theres the stuff you get in the “old country” and the very pale relation they serve up any other place you go. I tend to stick with the draught cans because you know it will always be consistently drinkable at least.revbob wrote: ↑26 Mar 2019, 4:53pmI'm with Jenny and Angry Tom.JennyB wrote: ↑26 Mar 2019, 3:12pmI agree with this post.BitterTom wrote: ↑26 Mar 2019, 3:02pmI'd agree if we were just taking IPAs, can't stand the really fruity or zesty or whatever they use to describe them. There is also a thing as too much hops.
However, a real stout or porter is a different kettle of fish for me, and it can be a meal substitute so another plus there.
And 101 I like Guinness but I can go to my local store and find 10 better stouts easily. Guinness is my go to when all a place has that isn't the usual mass produced suspects or ridiculously hopped IPAs. I mean seriously not liking a good craft beer is like saying you like burgers, as long as they come from McDonalds (or similar places).

I'm not a big lager fan in general. I have had their coffee stout which is pretty good but I never see it too often.
I just bought one of the last of the Brooklyn Chocolate stouts.

Honestly haven’t a clue but i remember the first time i tried guinness in england and the barman would just throw it up like a normal pint, no head on it, and it would taste disgusting. Prefer to try a good old fashioned English ale nowadays than a stout anyway, but I’d say the guinness has to be better than it used to be.101Walterton wrote: ↑26 Mar 2019, 7:02pmI understand it is something to do with the water.Low Down Low wrote: ↑26 Mar 2019, 5:23pmIn my experience Guinness is a drink that has never travelled well. Used to like this stuff but it's years since I had any.

Yep no a bad drop.

Old Perculier is such a good beer! Nearly always get 3 for £5 on a Saturday as a weekend treat, great flavour and a tad stronger than most if I recall so it gets the job done.

We used to get Beamish at the store I worked at in the 90s. The employees all agreed it was better than Guinness by a fair bit, but no one but us bought it.
