I saw it more as a metaphor for racism in America.

Was at the Sox/Rockies game last night. Great time, exciting game and we had good seats. The stadium was so overwhelmingly full of Sox fans that I felt a little bad for the Rockies fans who did show up, and REALLY bad for the players. Can't be fun hearing stadium-wide chants of "let's go red sox" in your own home. Rockies ownership should be (but won't be) utterly humiliated. Even heard some of the ushers complaining about the Rockies ownership on the way out- morale seems really, really low with the club.

Sox are looking good right now. Probably too little, too late but they're playing meaningful games at this point in the season which is good enough for me.

Stranger things have happened, but they lack dependable arms in the rotation and an unfavourable schedule. They have to play flawlessly the rest of the way and hope for two teams ahead to go mediocre. I ain't complainin', tho. Can't win every year and Devers, Bogaerts, and Vazquez have had fantastic seasons (the former two would be MVP candidates if the team's record were better).

That was one guy years ago, your whole starting staff is a boondoggle this year.

When shit goes wrong for a high payroll team, it seems like a boondoggle. Guys get paid based on past performance and projections, not guarantees, and this year the rotation never got on a roll. It ain't my money and Red Sox ownership is still making a profit. So it's a big meh to me.

Some regression to mean for previously overperforming pitchers and a down season for some otherwise usually reliably decent/good/excellent guys. It sucks, and there's probably questions to be asked around training and conditioning, but it also happens. It goes the other way too, like last year.
