This is terrible news.
The Cars was my favorite band as a teen. The major part of the soundtrack for me driving around in my beat-up car was their first 4 cassettes. Especially loved Candy O and Panorama. RIP Ric.

What!!

I was just making plans with my sister to see 3 From Hell on Saturday.

It's gotten hard to separate him from the very creepy Captain Spaulding, but in every interview I watched or read he came across as a very nice guy. Very interesting, too. He retired from acting at one point to become a hypnotherapist to help people quite smoking and so on.

I’ve known multiple people who met him at cons and the like, and they uniformly said he was a very nice guy. And just a legend in exploitation and that guy roles.

I met him & Jack Hill at a screening of Spider Baby at New Bev in LA, and I'm pretty sure 2nd feature was one of the Filipino Jungle/prison flicks w/ Pam Grier, The Big Bird Cage. So I bought the DVD of Spider Baby and was waiting in line for him to sign it trying to think of something to say other than "duh", so when I got up I said that I bought a mail order bootleg VHS of Spider Baby when I was a teenager for $20, and he said something like "$20? Those used to go for $80!" Then he tapped Jack on the shoulder and asked me to repeat what I said! Then they both signed the new (at the time) DVD of Spider Baby which they were promoting, and I told Jack that I love Switchblade Sisters, and that was it.

Well, I'm sure it was a long, strange trip for that now deceased fellow.

I looked it up (I was curious). Robert Hunter, who was the guy who wrote lyrics with Jerry Garcia.

Nope.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board
