101’s Room
Re: 101’s Room
We've got a one year old and it's definitely aged me already. Someone thought I was 38 the other day. I'm only 27...

Did not realize that your board avatar was actually a photo of you.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

Having a kid now, I would fault no one for not having kids. It sucks. Like it's fun and great and all, but it sucks.BostonBeaneater wrote: ↑18 Apr 2019, 2:18pmHaving embraced a child-free life it really annoys me when people seem to pity my wife and I for not having children. I remind them that I take at least two week long vacations a year, sleep until 10AM most weekend days, and that our place is largely free of plastic things in primary colors.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

That pissed me off before we decided to have kids and it still does. There is nothing wrong with living a kid free life.BostonBeaneater wrote: ↑18 Apr 2019, 2:18pmHaving embraced a child-free life it really annoys me when people seem to pity my wife and I for not having children. I still hate children on the whole.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑18 Apr 2019, 2:32pmI've said before that while I could have potentially come around to wanting a kid, I don't know if I could ever stand other people's shitty kids and especially their parents.

I'm glad you say that. Half my friends with kids say what you say while the other half describe it like a magical wonderland. Take a guess which one's are better parents? I can see the good parts of it and sometimes do regret not having the experience but for the love of god be honest about it.
Re: 101’s Room
When we hung out with you without our kid was a magical, long weekend. I still look back at it with great fondness. And not just because of BBE time. I mean, we missed the hell out of our daughter and all, but oh it was nice to be free.BostonBeaneater wrote: ↑18 Apr 2019, 4:57pmI'm glad you say that. Re: 101’s Room
I love kids! My kids other people’s kids, babies, toddlers, teenagers (maybe less so at times ).
I understand people who don’t want them but for me they are brilliant and keep you young.
Rather watch children’s sport than pro sport and rather talk to teenagers than most adults I meet.
I am away for Easter staying in a beautiful house on the beach. Could have been just me and MRs W but we chose to bring 3 sixteen year old boys and 50.5W graced us with a short appearance. Can’t wait for them to get out of bed to go surfing!!!

I love my kids, and I miss them when they’re not around, but every brief fleeting moment we can go out without them is a gift.matedog wrote: ↑18 Apr 2019, 5:13pmWhen we hung out with you without our kid was a magical, long weekend. Who'll sing "Danny Boy" for you as you lay in your death bed?
