NEVER TRUST:

Post by BostonBeaneater »

Anyone who doesn’t like the Cramps.

People whose clothes are way too tight.

People who are obviously gay but don’t accept it.

People who want to talk about religion.

Anyone with an umbrella.

Disney.

I have a friend whose wife is from North Dakota and they go back occasionally for holidays and such. He was telling me they have "extra mild" salsas a d such that are regional exclusives to that area because the locals still find mild salsa too spicy. It's just tomato sauce, basically.

Anything mild (especially cheese) is wasted calories in my mind. And the idea of extra mild salsa is I'm sure exactly how you described it, just tomato sauce. Give your tastebuds a treat for once.

The rural Midwest is like this. I swear they find pepper too spicy.

My parents visited us when we lived in NC, and we drove them to Ashville in the mountains and the Biltmore castle. We stopped at Wendy's for lunch and my mother complained that the chili was too spicy. Sigh sigh sigh.

My mother in law is a surprisingly excellent cook who somehow doesn’t particularly care for flavor. It’s weird, because she grew up in the Bronx.

My mother is an awful cook and a key reason, I suspect, I'm not that into food. Perhaps the real blame goes to my dad, who preferred bland food and made it clear he didn't want any "ethnic food." Salt and pepper was the extent of flavouring.

This had the opposite effect on me. I'm not great by any means but it influenced me to learn to cook.

That's what happened to the Boss. She's more experimental and enjoys cooking.
