it's not limited overs and make slow and steady progress like good test cricket should be like.
With half the current raised on huge one-day scores and 20/20, slow and steady is a totally foreign concept
Sad but true. I totally get why one day and 20/20 cricket are more popular but you can't beat the classic game in my opinion.
Agreed. Never watched a 20/20 it is like backyard cricket.

Did well yesterday, would be a shame to throw it away. Again. Archer played brilliantly but the openers have spoilt it to not capitalise.

Hoping the middle order will have a bit more about them, don't want this series to end in a draw or worse, a loss. Need to win this badly.

Fucking useless. Test cricket is doomed for England.

A slim chance we could save a series loss here but I haven't got hopes up, need to carry on this momentum. Why couldn't they play like this first innings?

It's the hope that'll kill you. Just when you think Australia are getting twitchy England will inevitably collapse.

Sadly I think you will be correct, although it is still only a day 4 pitch (thanks to our first innings incompetence) and the weather should be good. A shame Denly got out. Might have got the Aussies a bit twitchy if we were only 2 down.

Was feeling optimistic before Root through away a good innings. No need to come down the pitch for that. 2 whole days to go, should have played slow and steady, the runs would have come.

Agreed about no need to come down the pitch, it isn't a normal shot for him. Fair enough if that was the way he normally plays spinners, but it isn't. Clearly the pressure the Aussies built up got to him.

Not bad since then, but it is the hope that kills you. The Windies got home (last year, was it?) so can we do it?

Getting tense now, 7 down Stokes looking good, a win is unlikely but possible.

Archer was looking good. Another stupid shot. Got a good 4 but couldn't leave it alone, just take it easy!! Plenty of time and the series is being pissed away

Definite lack of game awareness, the trouble is that they don’t play many such games, they mainly just play the one day stuff.
