Beans binned, black pudding banished.

Which five foodstuffs will make it to the "elite 5" list, which will be written in law as the perfect fry up? Polls from now run for one day.

My two main bugbears have gone so I move on to the ejection of fried bread purely on health grounds.

And let's talk tomatoes. I like Italian plum tomatoes with my breakfast, though normal tomatoes are fine, best grilled. Frying them can get messy.

I'm on the "let's just vote in a standard American breakfast" trolley, so fried bread it is.

I like tomatoes, but not with breakfast. Like hard liquor, they have no business being out before 11:30am.

Quick question: English sausage isn't the same as American, right?

Anyway, you heathens who hate tomatoes with breakfast can go eat blood pudding. :shifty: In my family, you mention scrambled eggs over diced tomatoes (fresh from the garden kind) and doused with salt and pepper you'll get a big smile. Simple food for simple folk.

We were friends with a couple, one of whom was from Philly, and he served us scrapple for breakfast once. That was probably the toughest eat-to-be-polite experience I've ever had.

I will have both tomatoes or mushrooms with an omelette/scrambled in eggs, but stand-alone before lunch? Eh.

I remember having fry bread in Ireland years ago thinking this would be pretty good with maple syrup. I love mushrooms but not at breakfast.
