First dead celeb of the year: Don Larsen, a mediocre pitcher who was brilliant once at the best time. Which ain't bad at all.

His aggressive and shifty play in past death pools deserves proper recognition.

I had a student last year write a paper on 2112 Cold War totalitarianism. It was actually pretty good, but I told him that there was no way I was going to listen it while reading.

He was still alive? He seemed really old when he was hosting SNL all the time in the 70s.

Like I said in my duplicate thread, he is considered one of the all time greats. I wasn't a huge fan of his style, but he obviously had a tremendous amount of skill and pushed drumming to the forefront of that style. He was well known outside of the drumming community and very well respected within which isn't terribly common.

My old covers band did a few of their songs and they were a pain in the ass to learn, but a lot of fun when we finally got them down.
