Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

When they rereleased the first two albums in 2002 the drum and bass parts were re-recorded. Kerslake and the bass player had sued over unpaid royalties and in a petty act of revenge they were wiped from the reissued albums. Ozzy claims it was Sharon's idea and she said it was his.

Yeah not to excuse Ozzy because in the end his name is on it and it was a shitty thing to do but Sharon is the business end of things so I tend to think she played the major role in it.WestwayKid wrote: ↑23 Sep 2020, 2:26pmWhen they rereleased the first two albums in 2002 the drum and bass parts were re-recorded. Also possible Sharon asked a drug addled Ozzy or a drug addled Ozzy asked Sharon.

I believe she was behind their original firing. I know they are not credited on Diary of a Madman, but did in fact play on that recording.revbob wrote: ↑23 Sep 2020, 3:05pmYeah not to excuse Ozzy because in the end his name is on it and it was a shitty thing to do but Sharon is the business end of things so I tend to think she played the major role in it.WestwayKid wrote: ↑23 Sep 2020, 2:26pmWhen they rereleased the first two albums in 2002 the drum and bass parts were re-recorded. Am I being an old crank or was baseball once a more joyful exercise?

I've mentioned before Dan Epstein's book on baseball in the 70s. It doesn't directly compare baseball then to what we have now, but it's hard not to see what a sterile, image consultant-driven exercise it is now.BostonBeaneater wrote: ↑28 Sep 2020, 10:30pmAm I being an old crank or was baseball once a more joyful exercise?

You'd think some of their old friends from back home would say, "You've got a contract! You can do whatever you want!".Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑29 Sep 2020, 6:32amI've mentioned before Dan Epstein's book on baseball in the 70s.
