Very sad news about Nobby Stiles, particularly reading that he had advanced dementia. I remember him more for his post playing managerial career at Preston. Although he didn’t do brilliantly I do remember that he always came across as a very honest and hard working person.

Quite a few in the last couple of years. I'm sure the heading of the ball is related to at least two or three of the cases.
Not much hope left for me then. I scored 27 goals in my last season. 15 headers 5 pens 7 from open play.
Hello,

Purposeful heading is not a strong factor in later head/brain injury. Technique is one factor that most clinical studies have trouble understanding and factoring into estimations. If you scored from the top or back of your head, you should be concerned. If you are concerned, I can point you to some reading/studies (they're really dry/heavy reading).
Forehead always for me.

My dad is a James Bond fan and he started watching the movies with me when I was a kid. I became a big James Bond fan myself. I just finished catching myself up on some of the newer continuation Bond novels and in my head the Bond on the page was Sean Connery. When I was reading Bond’s words they were in Sean Connery’s voice. This is a celebrity death that really makes me sad.

I never thought of this as I've read the books—that is, I wasn't aware of it—but it's true for me, too.

"Do you expect me to talk?"
"No, Mr Bond, I expect you to die!"

Not a big Bond fan, but he was the best, hands down.

Seems like a bad run for British icons right now.
