Why baseball needs Derek Jeter today as much as ever

Ballwashing Jeets never quite goes out of style.

Just came to say good for Larry Walker—always happy whenever an ex-Expo gets in. And thank fuck the Captain was denied a unanimous selection. He's clearly a first-ballot guy for his offense, but he was a mediocre defensive player. Then again, Curt "Bund" Schilling came close, which means that nasty fucker is going to get in within the next couple years. I'd rather see Clemens and Bonds than that asswipe.

Griffey Jr wasn't unanimous either which just blows my mind.

Or guys like Ruth, DiMaggio, Mays, Williams, Aaron, etc. While I'm good with Rivera being the first and only unanimous guy, the idea of so many great players not being unanimous justifies Jeets missing out. A dumb tradition, but it should be the absurdly great ones who get past it.

I'm going to Spring Training again, making travel arrangements
We reach the parts other combos cannot reach
We beach the beachheads other armies cannot beach
We speak the tongues other mouths cannot speak

How many Astros get some early season fastballs in the ribs? And do they take offence or just suck it up and know that this players settling shit on the field?
