I wasn't a huge fan of his when he was being feted here tbh -- some great defensive plays, but it felt like most of the time he'd take lousy routes and needlessly turn relatively routine outfield flys into something requiring highlight-reel catches. Also, he would swing at literally everything.

That was my impression, too. Great fielders make it look easy, not hard. But in a shitty fucked up season, seeing him play like his life is on the line is pretty cool theatre.

Just looked and at the standings. If the season ended today, the Yankees would somehow miss the playoffs altogether. That'd definitely take some of the salt off this shitastic Sox team.
