6mo was a wreck Friday night to the point that my Fitbit says I didn’t sleep (I did, just in like 45-60 minute chunks). 4 yo threw up in the middle of the night too.

Wife was going to her sisters bridal shower yesterday, took a test and sure enough, positive. I took two and came back negative. Waiting on the PCRs for the kids.

Thank god the kids slept last night. The previous nights was one of the hardest we’ve had as a parents. Had a real scratchy throat last night and am developing a cough but still tested negative just now.
Fingers crossed that it's just the missus and that it's brief and mild for her.

Yeah, fingers crossed matey. Hope it passes quickly.

Piece of advice, in case it's not top of mind, if symptoms seem like they're getting worse for you or the missus get a doctor's consult (you can probably do it by video) to get on the new COVID treatment medicine. It's supposed to be pretty effective but you need to take it within a few days of symptoms appearing

Thanks for the tip. I hadn’t considered that.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Update: finally tested positive this morning which makes sense since I started feeling like shit yesterday afternoon- fever, chills, fatigue, coughing/sneezing. Not the worst cold I’ve ever had, but probably close to it.

Finally got the results on the kids and baby is positive and 4.5 year old is negative which is I guess good? Though we can’t quarantine her so it might just be a matter of time. Mrs Hoy is about a day ahead of me with symptoms and still feeling pretty rough.

Damn. Lousy news any time, worse on your birthday. Here's hoping that it's a quick turnaround.

Hello,

Stay strong...follow the care/procedures. Good luck with the kids! I hope it turns out for a good story a few years from now sitting around a campfire.

Just catching up on this, Matey... sounds like you've definitely had far happier birthdays.
I hope the family are over the worst and if you're lagging behind, it's manageable and not as severe as it might be

Feel better soon Mateys! Maggie had it last week so hopefully it will be as short-lived as hers was.
